UW-Green Bay has been awarded a grant to develop a new Elder Justice Coalition in Wisconsin by Lifespan of Greater Rochester. The grant, part of the funding received through the U.S. Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime, will run from October 2023 through September 2025.

Attorney General Josh Kaul commended UW-Green Bay for their efforts, stating, "With strong partnerships, communities can more effectively combat elder abuse."

Carrie Molke, Director of the Bureau of Aging and Disability Resources, expressed gratitude towards the initiative, saying, "Protecting older people in Wisconsin from abuse, neglect, and exploitation is a priority."

The mission of Wisconsin’s Elder Justice Coalition focuses on various objectives such as expanding current response teams, developing financial abuse specialist teams, and conducting needs assessments in different sectors to determine educational needs in elder justice.

To execute this mission, UW-Green Bay collaborates with various organizations such as AARP WI, Capital Credit Union, Legal Action of Wisconsin, and many others.

For more information about Wisconsin’s Elder Justice Coalition, interested individuals can visit the website at www.uwgb.edu/elder-justice-coalition or contact Laura Nolan, Program Manager, Business and Government Outreach.

The Elder Justice Coalition is sponsored by the Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Training at UW-Green Bay, aimed at upskilling, reskilling, and new skilling.
