The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has announced record-setting Spring enrollment numbers, showcasing a 5.2% year-over-year increase and marking the highest-ever Spring headcount of 8,025 students. The institution's growth stands in stark contrast to declining enrollment trends seen both statewide and nationally.

Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Kate Burns emphasized the university's commitment to regional development, stating, “UW-Green Bay’s extraordinary growth speaks directly to what it means to be a regional comprehensive, which is building up our region and communities from within.” The university's success is further highlighted by the fact that over 70% of its alumni find employment in Northeast Wisconsin, contributing to the economic vitality of the area.

Chancellor Michael Alexander credited the faculty and staff for challenging norms and promoting accessibility to higher education, stating, “When we challenge the status quo and break down barriers to accessing higher education, incredible things happen.” The university's dedication to supporting students throughout their academic journey has led to significant increases across various student demographics, including Hispanic/Latino students, students of color, international students, and non-traditional students.

The growth at UW-Green Bay extends to various academic programs, with rising enrollment in areas such as nursing, psychology, writing and applied arts, and sociology and anthropology. The Cofrin School of Business has also seen expansion in majors like accounting, finance, and marketing, while graduate programs like Biodiversity Conservation and Management and Applied Biotechnology are experiencing substantial growth.

The university's commitment to providing diverse educational pathways, from dual enrollment programs for high school students to graduate-level studies, positions it for long-term success in serving the educational needs of the region. By prioritizing academic and support services, UW-Green Bay ensures that each student is well-equipped for a successful academic journey and post-graduation career.

The fluctuations in enrollment numbers, noted to be lower in Spring due to dual enrollment patterns and recent graduations, are common in higher education institutions. Despite these fluctuations, UW-Green Bay's continued growth and dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment solidify its position as a leading educational institution in the region.
