 August 2022 Primary Elections

(Green Bay)  The August 2022 Primary Elections had a higher-than-anticipated voter turnout at polling locations.  In 2018, there were 12,102 votes cast; in 2020 there were 14,646 votes cast; this year, with the unofficial canvass, there were 15,015 votes cast.  Accordingly, the Clerk requested additional ballots in 15 of the 59 wards of the City.   The additional ballots were promptly delivered to wards that needed them.  The 59 wards are a result of the Wisconsin State Legislature’s redistricting and subsequent creation of 12 added split wards.

The City of Green Bay welcomed many observers yesterday at the polls and at Central Count.  Election observers are members of the public who visit polling locations to view the real-time activities of voters, poll workers, and other staff.  Observers promote transparency and confidence in an Election and its results. Consistent with Wisconsin’s tradition of open government, state statutes ensure that election observers do not, intentionally or otherwise, interfere with or disrupt the right to vote.
