The Green Bay Packers and the Center for Childhood Safety will host the Packers Safety Playbook event on May 9 at the Lambeau Field Atrium.

The event aims to teach kids and families about safety through interactive stations. Organizers say that the first 600 attendees will receive free light-up safety belts, while the first 400 will get a youth bike helmet provided by American Family Insurance. These items are available while supplies last and based on size availability.

Families can view several emergency vehicles outside the American Family Insurance Gate, including an Eagle III helicopter, fire truck, police cars, ambulance, and a rollover convincer demonstrating seatbelt safety. The helicopter is scheduled to land around 11 a.m. and take off at 1:30 p.m., though this timing may change depending on weather or emergencies.

Inside Lambeau Field Atrium, there will be a fire safety course, an inflatable brain exhibit for children, demonstrations about choking response techniques such as abdominal thrusts (Heimlich maneuver), and more. Packers players are expected to participate in book readings and interact with visitors at different stations throughout the day.

A drug takeback station organized by Brown County’s Coalition for Change will operate from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., allowing people to safely dispose of prescription or over-the-counter medications. The organizers say that disposing of unused or expired medicines helps keep families safe; more information about accepted items is available online.

Entry is through either the American Family Insurance Gate or Miller Lite Gate on Lambeau Field’s east side. Scheduled activities on the main stage include book readings by Packers players, car seat installation demonstrations, choking rescue technique demos, bike helmet fittings, and social media safety presentations.

“Packers Safety Playbook” is part of Green Bay Packers Give Back community outreach efforts. Combined with other charity programs from the team last year contributed over $13 million in charitable impact according to the official website. The Green Bay Packers were founded in 1919 and have won championships in years such as 1929 and 2010; they compete in the National Football League’s NFC North Division from their base in Green Bay, Wisconsin according to their official website.
