FOIA Request to City of De Pere Regarding Same Day Registered Voters for 2024 Election on November 7, 2024.
A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the City of De Pere in Wisconsin by us at Green Bay Reporter. The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we have specifically asked for a list of new voters who registered to vote on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We have requested these records preferably in an electronic format for ease of access and dissemination. We also believe that as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver as per the provisions in the law.
This request is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure transparency in electoral processes and keep our readers informed about developments in their community. We will continue pursuing this matter until all relevant information is made available to us.
