FOIA Request to City of Oconto Falls Regarding Same Day Registered Voters on November 7, 2024.
In a bid to uphold transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Green Bay Reporter have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Oconto Falls. The request, dated November 7, 2024, seeks information under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically asking for a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
As an organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to such public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.
We have requested these records preferably in electronic format for ease of dissemination and analysis. Given our role in gathering and reporting news to the public, we also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await the response from the City of Oconto Falls and will continue our efforts to provide transparent and accountable reporting on this and other matters concerning local government affairs.
