FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024.
In a bid to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Dekalb County. The request, dated September 26, 2024, seeks access to records of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, till the date of the request.
The requested information includes the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount for each payment made within the specified period. As a media organization committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us.
We believe that as media professionals involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. We await Dekalb County’s response and cooperation in providing these important records.
