A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Bartelme in Wisconsin on November 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Green Bay Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

We requested records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically asking for a list of new voters who registered to vote on Election Day, November 5, 2024. The requested information is vital for our reporting as it aids in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency.

As members of the media, we are involved in gathering and disseminating news to the public. Access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in spreading information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We are awaiting a response from the Town of Bartelme and will continue to pursue this matter in our commitment to provide transparent and accountable news coverage.
