A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Fairbanks in Wisconsin on November 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Green Bay Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

We are seeking access to a list of new voter registrations that occurred on Election Day, November 5, 2024. This request has been made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., and we have expressed a preference for the records to be provided in an electronic format.

As journalists dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request and look forward to a positive response from the Town of Fairbanks.
