A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Town of Gillett on November 7, 2024. The request was made by Green Bay Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The FOIA request specifically sought a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we at Green Bay Reporter believe that access to such records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

In the request, we highlighted our role as members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Given this role in disseminating information, we stated our belief that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.

We continue to await a response from the Town of Gillett regarding this request. We remain committed to ensuring transparency in local government affairs and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
