A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Suring, Wisconsin, on November 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Green Bay Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request sought access to public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., specifically asking for a list of new voters who registered to vote on November 5, 2024. This information is vital in our role as journalists as it aids in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver. Access to such records is crucial for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.

We await a response from the Village of Suring regarding this request and will continue our commitment towards delivering comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs.
