A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to the Village of Tigerton on November 7, 2024. The request, issued by Green Bay Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, sought information about voters who registered on the day of the election.
Specifically, we asked for a list of new registrations from voters that registered to vote on November 5, 2024. As journalists committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities.
We believe that this information will help us provide a more complete picture of voter participation in the recent election. We also stated our eligibility for a fee waiver as media professionals given our role in disseminating information to the public.
The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for receiving the records in an electronic format for ease of analysis and reporting.
At Green Bay Reporter, we remain committed to keeping our readers informed about important civic matters like voter registration and participation. We look forward to sharing more details as they become available.
