The city of Green Bay’s Office of Violence Prevention (OVP) has announced the opening of a new facility aimed at supporting its ongoing efforts in violence reduction and community safety. The announcement was made through a press release on April 8, 2025.
According to the Green Bay OVP, the new space is located at 617 N. Irwin Ave. on the city’s east side. This initiative is part of a partnership with the Green Bay Area Public School District and the Medical College of Wisconsin. The facility aims to enhance access to OVP’s programs, enabling participants to connect directly with staff and engage in services that promote alternatives to violence. Features include a professional recording studio, lending library, video production equipment, and workshops focused on life skills development in collaboration with community organizations.
The OVP team employs the Rewire Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) method developed by the Roca Impact Institute. This approach combines life coaching with cognitive behavioral techniques to guide participants toward constructive choices. To commemorate the opening, a press conference and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Monday, April 14 at 1 p.m., followed by an open house for community partners from 3 to 6 p.m. Visitors are advised that parking is available on Elm Street or in the lot at Elm and Irwin.

The Office of Violence Prevention in Green Bay works towards creating safe and resilient neighborhoods by promoting solutions aimed at reducing violence and preventing retaliation. The OVP collaborates with residents, community organizations, and city departments to address the root causes of violence through mentorship and community well-being initiatives. Their mission is to ensure all residents feel safe and have opportunities to contribute to solutions. The OVP is launching its first Community Safety Plan and invites community input on creating a safer, connected Green Bay.
