In the mind of Wisconsin state Rep. John Macco (R-Ledgeview), nothing seems to add up about the plan that has a competing concert complex now heading to Milwaukee’s famed Deer District area.

“At the state level, we actively support Milwaukee’s economic success,” he posted on Twitter recently. “In turn, Milwaukee should make fiscally responsible decisions.”

Empower Wisconsin reported that Frank Productions Concerts Live (FPC) is now in the process of mapping out plans for the venues in Milwaukee’s Deer District on some of the area’s most prized land.

Macco said one of his biggest concerns is that state taxpayers will somehow be left holding the bag, given the facility will directly compete with existing concert venues.

“I have serious concerns that the revenue impact on the city with the proposed concert venue will be zero and potentially a loss,” he wrote in a letter to the Milwaukee City Council.

Despite Macco’s opposition, city officials quickly approved the plan on Nov. 1, setting the stage for construction of the complex to begin next year. The venue is slated to open in 2024 and will include an 800-capacity ballroom and a 4,000-capacity hall.

FPC is part of the Live Nation Entertainment/Ticketmaster-backed Frank Productions corporate family, the largest live entertainment and venue operator in the U.S.
