The Green Bay Packers announced on May 5 that they have awarded $100,000 in grants to 20 Wisconsin high schools as part of the organization’s Girls Flag Grant Program. Each school will receive a $5,000 grant to help fund girls flag intramurals and club teams, along with 20 Syzmik X7C Protective Headbands and a USA Football flag equipment starter kit.
The program aims to support the growth of girls flag football across Wisconsin by providing resources for new teams. “Seeing the growth of girls flag football in Wisconsin over the last several years has been so rewarding,” said Ryan Fencl, Packers football outreach manager. “We’re proud to highlight girls flag as a sport in a variety of ways through our outreach efforts, creating opportunities for girls to explore their athletic abilities through flag football. We look forward to continuing to build momentum for girls flag in Wisconsin and contribute to the ultimate goal of establishing girls flag as a sanctioned high school sport in our state.”
This year’s recipients include Elkhorn High School, Beloit Memorial, Burlington High School, Cedarburg High School, Dominican High School (Whitefish Bay), Freedom High School, Green Bay East, Kimberly High School, Little Chute High School, Madison East, Madison La Follette, Madison West, Milwaukee School of Arts, Neenah High School, Racine Case, Racine Park, Riverside University High School (Milwaukee), Southern Door High School (Brussels), Vel Phillips Memorial (Madison), and Verona Area High School.
