Rep. Tony Wied, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Wisconsin, recently used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and related political issues.

On October 7, 2025, Wied posted about his appearance on a local talk show: “ICYMI: I joined the Schroeder Show this weekend to discuss the Schumer shutdown and breakdown the lies that are being told by the Democrats and echoed in the mainstream media.”

Later that day, Wied addressed the economic impact of the shutdown on Wisconsin small businesses, specifically referencing a fellow Wisconsin lawmaker: “The longer Democrats like @SenatorBaldwin continue to hold our government hostage, the more Wisconsinites will suffer. Small businesses in WI will lose out on $59 million in SBA loans if this shutdown continues. Senate Dems need to put Americans first and pass our clean CR NOW.”

On October 8, 2025, Wied made a statement regarding national security and immigration: “If you support terrorism, you have no business being in our country. Period.”

Wied was elected to Congress in 2024 after defeating Kristin Lyerly in the general election with 57.3% of the vote to Lyerly’s 42.6%. His recent posts reflect ongoing partisan debate over government funding and border security.
