Rep. Tony Wied, a U.S. Congressman representing Wisconsin’s 8th district who won his seat in 2024 by defeating Kristin Lyerly, has recently shared updates on social media regarding his activities and opinions related to local services and national issues.

On August 21, 2025, Rep. Wied posted about his visit to a healthcare facility: “I was very happy to visit the Children’s Wisconsin Clinic in Appleton to learn about the more than 20 services they provide for families across #WI08 I want to thank their team for the incredible work they do to care for our kids right here in Northeast Wisconsin.”

The following day, on August 22, he highlighted a meeting with financial professionals: “I had a productive roundtable meeting with financial advisors from across #WI08 to discuss the financial services they provide to thousands of hardworking families and how I can be helpful to both them and their clients. It’s great to see how committed they are to assisting”

Later that same day, Rep. Wied expressed strong criticism of a judicial decision involving immigration and crime: “This is madness. How does a federal judge justify allowing an illegal alien, who accused of being a human trafficker and a member of MS-13, to walk free. These people simply do not care about public safety or the rule of law.”

Rep. Wied’s recent posts reflect both his engagement with community institutions in Northeast Wisconsin and his views on federal judicial decisions regarding immigration enforcement.

Wied secured his congressional seat after winning the 2024 general election against Kristin Lyerly with 57.3% of the vote.
