Air Force Commander and C-146A instructor pilot, Lt. Col. Kevin Limberg, fulfilled the dream that started as a teenager watching AirVentureand landed a C-146 military plane at this year’s exhibition.
“A great story,” Rep. Rob Cowles tweeted. “Thank you for your service, Lt. Col. Kevin Limberg, and glad to see you fulfill a long-time goal.”
The week-long exhibition celebrates aircrafts and pilots from all over the world, and from various eras. Nearly 20 years after pursuing the dream, the Seymour native now flies the transport aircraft all over the globe as the commander and instructor at the 524th Special Operations Squadron, Fox reports.
"It's always the dream right," Limberg said. "You go and sit in some of these aircrafts and you think wow this person actually got to fly this into the largest air show in the world."
Though most of his time is now consumed with Air Force special operations tasks, the former Seymour High School student finds time to visit his family back home a few periods out of the year, Fox reports.
"What I tell people is the biggest thing is to just not give up," Limberg said. "It's not to say you're going to fail. I fail all the time, just don't give up. You can get to those dreams that you want to get to."
