FOIA Request to Town of Townsend Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government affairs, we at Green Bay Reporter have sent a formal request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to the Town of Townsend. The request was made for records detailing a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
As journalists committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public we serve.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We eagerly await the response from the Town of Townsend and will continue our efforts in keeping our readers informed about their local governmental affairs.
