The Green Bay Packers have announced a free fan event, "Packers Huddle," to be held in London on October 11 at Redwood near London Bridge Station. The gathering is scheduled from 6 to 9:30 p.m., and aims to bring the atmosphere of Lambeau Field and American football to UK-based fans. While the Packers will not play any games overseas this season, the event is timed ahead of an international NFL game taking place in London on October 12.

Former Packers center Scott Wells will appear as a special guest at the event, meeting with fans and posing for photos. Attendees can sample foods inspired by traditional Packers tailgates. Stephen O'Brien, founder of the UK Packers fan club and a well-known podcaster, will host the event, leading interactive contests and prize giveaways. A local DJ will provide music and entertainment throughout the evening.

Wells played for Green Bay from 2004-2011 after being drafted out of Tennessee in the seventh round. He served as starting center for six seasons, missing only one game during that period. Known for his technique and strength, Wells contributed to Ryan Grant's consecutive 1,200-yard rushing seasons and was responsible for many blocking assignments on offense. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and started at center when the Packers won Super Bowl XLV against Pittsburgh that same year. Wells finished his career with the St. Louis Rams between 2012-2014.

Fans interested in attending can look for RSVP details on Packers social media channels; entry is free but food and beverages are available for purchase.

This London event is part of three Packers Huddle events taking place across Europe this fall; similar gatherings are planned in Dublin later this month and Berlin in November. These efforts are part of Green Bay's participation in the NFL's Global Markets Program, which allows clubs marketing rights abroad as part of broader efforts to expand their fan base outside the United States (https://nflcommunications.com/Pages/NFL-Announces-First-Clubs-to-Participate-in-the-International-Home-Marketing-Areas-Initiative.aspx).

The Green Bay Packers were founded in 1919 and remain unique as a community-owned franchise with over half a million shareholders. Despite playing in Green Bay—one of the smallest cities with an NFL team—the franchise holds a record thirteen championships, including four Super Bowls (https://www.packers.com/history). Lambeau Field has sold out every home game since 1960 and is known among fans as offering one of sports' best gameday experiences (https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-s-greatest-stadiums-no-1-lambeau-field-green-bay-packers-0ap3000000503798). The team's identity extends beyond football; Wisconsin fans call themselves "Cheeseheads," referencing both state dairy heritage and the iconic foam hats worn by supporters worldwide.

"Packers legend Scott Wells was selected by the Packers in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft out of the University of Tennessee. A leader on the offensive line, he played for the Packers for eight seasons, from 2004-11, playing in a total of 111 games. He served as starting center from 2006-11, missing only one game during that span and developing a reputation for his remarkable dependability."

"Also known for his textbook technique and explosive strength, Wells was part of the offensive line that paved the way for teammate Ryan Grant's back-to-back 1,200-yard rushing seasons. Responsible for designating the majority of the blocking assignments at the line of scrimmage, Wells helped ensure the offense's success even in noisy, hostile road game environments. A 2011 Pro Bowl selection, Wells was the starting center for the Super Bowl XLV (45) championship team that defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011. Following the 2011 season, Wells finished his pro career with the St. Louis Rams from 2012-14. He wore #63 for the Packers."
