Rep. Tony Wied, a U.S. Congressman who won his seat in 2024 after defeating Kristin Lyerly, recently addressed several political issues on his social media account.

On October 6, 2025, Wied commented on business responses to proposed changes in currency policy, stating: “Less waste, fewer coins. Kwik Trip is getting ahead of the curve in supporting President Trump’s no-penny policy.”

Later that day, Wied criticized Democrats regarding the ongoing government shutdown, writing: “We are now on day 6 of the Democrats’ government shutdown. Aid is being withheld from farmers, workers are going without pay, and small businesses are taking a hit all because Dems like @SenatorBaldwin refuse to put Americans over illegal aliens. Enough is enough. Pass the CR.”

On October 7, 2025, Wied voiced concerns about actions by the Biden Administration and the Justice Department: “This was an abuse of power by the Biden Administration and it should alarm every American. For four years, they weaponized the Justice Department to target their political opponents and it is absolutely disgraceful. This is something straight out of the communist playbook.”

Wied secured his congressional seat in the 2024 general election with 57.3% of the vote against Kristin Lyerly’s 42.6%.
