Rep. Tony Wied, who represents Wisconsin’s 8th congressional district, has recently used his social media platform to address issues ranging from immigration and public safety to tax policy and local business engagement.
On July 28, 2025, Wied posted about a recent incident involving two Wisconsin teenagers: “Two Wisconsin teens were killed by an illegal alien driving drunk—after already being arrested for the same crime before. Earlier this year, the House voted to deport any illegal alien who drives drunk. 160 Democrats voted against it. There are very real consequences to”. This post highlighted his stance on immigration enforcement and referenced a legislative vote in the U.S. House of Representatives concerning the deportation of undocumented immigrants convicted of drunk driving.
The following day, on July 29, Wied shared details from a visit with a local business: “It was great visiting with Roland Machinery in De Pere and getting the opportunity to discuss the important impact our Big Beautiful Bill will have on them and businesses across #WI08.” In this message, he emphasized discussions around pending legislation that he claims will benefit area businesses.
Later that evening, Wied reiterated his support for what he called “Our One Big Beautiful Bill,” stating: “Our One Big Beautiful Bill will put more money back in everyday Wisconsinites pockets. The fact is every single House Democrat voted for the largest tax increase in American history by voting against this bill. No amount of spin will change that.”
Wied’s recent statements come after his victory over Kristin Lyerly in the 2024 general election for Wisconsin’s 8th congressional district, where he secured approximately 57% of the vote compared to Lyerly’s 43%.
