Rep. Tony Wied, a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly who won his seat in 2024 by defeating Kristin Lyerly with 57.3% of the vote, has recently shared several updates on social media addressing legislative actions and local initiatives.

On September 19, 2025, Rep. Wied announced his support for a resolution honoring Charlie Kirk. In his post, he stated: “Today, I was proud to vote to pass a resolution honoring the life of Charlie Kirk. Charlie was a true American patriot who was taken from us far too soon, and his legacy will continue to inspire us for generations to come.”

Later that day, Wied highlighted efforts by Chloe Cronin, a student at Appleton North High School, who is advocating for girls’ flag football to be recognized as an official sport in Wisconsin high schools. Wied wrote on September 19: “Recently, Chloe Cronin, a student at Appleton North High School, reached out to my office to share a petition she started, calling on the WIAA to recognize girl’s flag football as a sanctioned sport. This sport continues to grow and these young women deserve the same”

In another post later that evening on September 19, Rep. Wied addressed international trade issues concerning agriculture and foreign land ownership: “Communist China buys our farmland. Taiwan buys our farm goods. One undermines our sovereignty. The other strengthens our economy. Proud to stand with democratic allies and American producers.”

Wied’s recent statements reflect ongoing concerns about foreign investment in U.S. agricultural land as well as support for youth sports initiatives within Wisconsin communities.
