Rep. Tony Wied has taken to social media to express his stance on the enforcement of federal laws in cities and states, particularly concerning the allocation of taxpayer dollars. His series of tweets addresses concerns over how funds are distributed to jurisdictions that he believes are not upholding the rule of law.

On June 16, 2025, Rep. Wied expressed gratitude towards Rep. Abe Hamadeh for cosponsoring a bill. He stated, “Thank you to @RepAbeHamadeh for cosponsoring this bill. We shouldn’t be rewarding cities that refuse to enforce the rule of law with taxpayer dollars. This needs to end NOW.”

Later that day, he tweeted about the SAFE Cities Act, describing it as “common sense.” He asserted, “if liberal Mayors and Governors refuse to prioritize law-abiding citizens over violent extremists, they can say goodbye to federal funding.”

The following day, on June 17, 2025, Rep. Wied referenced comments made by Secretary Duffy in another tweet supporting his legislative initiative. He remarked that “Secretary Duffy is 100% right.” Adding further context to his position, he noted: “Taxpayer dollars shouldn’t be going to states that allow violent extremist[s] to destroy their own cities in defiance of federal law.” Rep. Wied emphasized that this was why he introduced the SAFE Cities Act aimed at holding such jurisdictions accountable.
