Rep. Tony Wied, a U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin, has used his social media platform to advocate for veterans’ access to benefits and to criticize recent actions by political opponents.

On September 25, 2025, Wied posted on X: “Our active-duty servicemen and veterans risked everything for our country, and they should not have to jump through unnecessary hoops to access their benefits. That’s why I’m calling for the DEERS/RAPIDS facility in Green Bay to be reopened. Read my letter below https://t.co/O9Pmy1nUF8”. On the same day, he expressed gratitude towards colleagues who supported his initiative: “Thank you to @RepGrothman, @RepTiffany, & @RepJackBergman for joining me in this effort.”

The following day, on September 26, 2025, Wied criticized an unnamed political figure’s approach to government funding negotiations: “It’s very clear where her priorities lie. She’s back to fear mongering, but Wisconsin families aren’t fooled. She voted to shut down the government. Holding our economy hostage isn’t ‘negotiation’, it’s extortion.”

Wied’s comments come after his victory over Kristin Lyerly in the 2024 general election, where he secured 57.3% of the vote compared to Lyerly’s 42.6%. This electoral outcome positioned him as a prominent Republican voice representing Wisconsin in Congress.
