Rep. Tony Wied, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives who won his seat in 2024 by defeating Kristin Lyerly with 57.3% of the vote, has recently posted several updates on his official social media account regarding Republican legislative priorities, local outreach efforts, and national security concerns.

On August 14, 2025, Rep. Wied highlighted what he described as key achievements by President Trump and House Republicans: “President Trump and House Republicans:

Lowered your taxes.
Secured our border.
Cut federal waste, fraud, and abuse.
Put America First.

Republicans are fighting for YOU and Democrats have fought us every step of the way.”

The following day, August 15, 2025, Rep. Wied reported on a visit to the Menominee Nation where he met with tribal leadership: “I enjoyed visiting the Menominee Nation and meeting with Chairman Joey Awonohopay and other tribal leaders to discuss some of their ongoing projects and how I can continue to be of assistance to them in Washington.”

On August 16, 2025, Rep. Wied addressed concerns about foreign ownership of American farmland: “There is absolutely zero reason for us to allow Chinese nationals to buy our farm land.

We need to support our great AMERICAN farmers.

I fully support Rep. Miller in ensuring we put an end to this now.”

Rep. Wied’s recent statements reflect both national Republican policy themes—such as tax cuts and border security—and specific regional engagement with constituents like the Menominee Nation. His comments on foreign land ownership align with broader legislative discussions taking place at both state and federal levels regarding agricultural security.

Rep. Wied secured his congressional seat in the 2024 general election against Kristin Lyerly by a margin of nearly 15 percentage points.
