With the upcoming 2022 election inching closer, Wisconsin representatives are preparing to make their runs for governor against current Gov. Tony Evers.
Rep. Rebecca Kleefisch, who served under former Gov. Scott Walker and is a previous lieutenant governor, has filed paperwork to run for governor and has told her followers that she will be making a "special announcement" soon.
Kleefisch is also a leader for the 1848 Project, a detailed plan that the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says resembles plans for reform similar to a governor campaign.
The plan includes proposals for new election rules and banning vaccine mandates to name a few.
Rep. John Macco has also filed paperwork to run for governor, saying that he got the paperwork in order to have everything set, but his run for governor is not official yet. The representative stated he is planning to wait things out before a run is announced.
"We will continue to assess the situation in the next few weeks and make a final decision," Macco tweeted on Sept. 1.
Besides Macco and Kleefisch, Kevin Nicholson, Bill McCoshen and Jonathan Wichmann will also be potential opponents of Evers.
