Although entering the NFC playoff field as the top-seed, the Green Bay Packers on Jan. 9 gave up their last regular-season game to the Detroit Lions.

After getting ahead 11 points in the first half, the Packers lost 37-30, finishing the regular season with a record of 13-4, according to the Detroit News.

Although the finish was not the momentum they wanted going into the NFC playoffs, they still hold the line as the No. 1 seed.

"Three wins and your Green Bay Packers are Super Bowl champs," Andy Hernan said in a Jan. 9 tweet following the game. "All that matters."

According to the Packers Wire, the Packers have a balance of pros and cons going into the playoffs.

Pros:

  • David Bakhtiari and Josh Myers returned for the Jan. 9 game after being out from injuries and started the game with the rest of the Packer's offensive line.
  • Rogers played his fifth straight game against the Lion's where he completed over 70% of his passes and threw several touchdowns with zero interceptions. His passer rating was 135.8.
  • Running Back Patrick Taylor secured his first-career touchdown with 56 total yards. He could potentially earn a roster spot for next year.
Cons:

  • Amari Rodgers dropped "at least" two passes, according to the Packers Wire, with one in the end zone and another that was intercepted at the line of scrimmage. The Packers Wire reports that "The Packers probably need to keep him on the sidelines during a win-or-go-home playoff tournament."
  • The Packer's turnover differential was minus-three after the offense had three giveaways.
  • Green Bay gave up two touchdowns to the Lions that equaled over 100 total yards and 14 points.
The San Francisco 49ers will face the Wisconsin team in both teams' first playoff game, with the Packers having the home-field advantage. The kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 22.
