Blending Community and Professional DEI Efforts- A Panel Conversation Tuesday, November 29th, 20224:30 PM to 6:30 PMFREE for CYP Members | $20 Guest ABOUT TOPIC: The topic of DEI has grown exponentially within the workplace over the past decade. Organizations have allocated significant resources: time, money, and energy, into developing programming and cultures that meet the needs of a diverse population of employees. Those same organizations and employees have expanded the DEI topic throughout our community, leading to a blending of internal and external resources. Join us as a panel of community stakeholders with expertise in the topic of DEI share insights, opportunities, and skills in connecting your professional and community DEI efforts.  By the end of this event, participants will: Understand how DEI can impact professional and community-based organizations. Develop skills for incorporating DEI ideas into their personal and professional identities. Learn about how organizations are evolving with, and because of, DEI initiatives.

Dr. Corey A. King is currently Vice Chancellor for University Inclusivity & Student Affairs at UW-Green Bay.  He brings over 29 years of higher education experience in student affairs, student services, and enrollment management. Dr. King has been a champion for equity, diversity, and inclusion. He has been recognized by regional and national student affairs associations for his work as a student affairs leader. He was named a Black Power 2020: Wisconsin’s 51 Most Influential Black Leaders. 

Crystal Lepscier (Waqsepaehketukiw) is an enrolled member of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa. In May of 2022, Crystal completed her Education Doctorate (Ed.D.) in First Nations Education from UW – Green Bay. She earned both her Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis (2011) and her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Studio Art (2005) from UW-Madison. She currently works at UWGB as the First Nations Student Succcess Coordinator and serves on the following boards: Wisconsin Indian Education Associaion (WIEA), Kaehke¯nawapahta¯e¯q Menominee Language Charter School, Title VI PAC for Shawano School District, and Cooweeja Indigenous Alumni Affinity group.

 Maria Padilla is the Diverse Small Business Manager for the Greater Green Bay Chamber. She focuses on making a difference for underserved business owners by connecting them to programs and resources to assist in their long-term success. Prior to working with the Chamber, Maria held multiple positions in the financial industry where she advocated for the Hispanic community in a variety of ways. Bob VanSchyndel (Oneida Nation) has been an educator for over 20 years. He has enjoyed professional roles around Northeast Wisconsin as an inclusive educator, native student advocate, and faculty coach. He is currently employed at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College as a DEI Talent Development Consulting where he engages with students, faculty, staff, and community members around many topics. 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

  • CYP members may attend for free.
  • Guests/non-members may join for $20.
  • Once registration is full, members may join via zoom.
