The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has been recognized by the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) as one of the top 200 colleges for Indigenous students for the academic year 2024-2025. This acknowledgment highlights UW-Green Bay's commitment to supporting Indigenous students through enrollment, educational programs, and student services.

AISES, a national nonprofit organization focused on expanding STEM opportunities for Indigenous people, selected UW-Green Bay based on several criteria. These include the number of Indigenous students enrolled, graduation rates, degrees earned, Native faculty members, tribal partnerships, and culturally-centered academic programs and services.

UW-Green Bay has demonstrated a longstanding dedication to serving Indigenous communities in the region over the past 50 years. The university offers a unique First Nations Education Doctorate (FNED), its first doctoral program. It also provides a bachelor's degree in First Nations Studies (FNS), which includes Oneida Language courses developed in partnership with the Oneida Nation community since the mid-1970s. The Center for First Nations Education serves as a gathering space that fosters learning and togetherness among all students.

Chancellor Michael Alexander expressed pride in this recognition from AISES: "We are incredibly proud of this recognition from AISES. It highlights our partnerships with the region’s Tribal Nations that allow our university to help expand pathways for learning and recognizes our steadfast commitment to serving the people and communities of Northeast Wisconsin. From recent high school graduates to later-in-life learners, UW-Green Bay is driven to break down barriers to accessing college while forging educational opportunities for all."

UW-Green Bay is one of only two schools in Wisconsin featured on AISES's Top 200 list alongside UW-Madison.
