Brown County United Way, also known as BCUW, marks its centennial anniversary. The organization notes that one in three households in Brown County struggles with basic needs. These households are described as Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed (ALICE), encompassing a broad spectrum of community members.
BCUW promotes an inclusive environment where all residents can achieve economic stability, educational growth, health, and community connection. The group's initiatives, such as the City East Center, located in Green Bay's Joannes Park neighborhood, and the HubCAP, a fleet of special vehicles, serve to support community members by delivering critical services and resources at convenient locations.
BCUW focuses on key issues including economic mobility, employment security, job skills development, mental health support, and childcare access. These priorities reflect the organization's commitment to resolving some of Brown County's most pressing concerns through partnerships with community stakeholders.
The organization encourages community involvement, seeking volunteers to advance BCUW's mission of enhancing local quality of life. BCUW invites individuals to become a Community Champion, an opportunity that offers education from experts and promotes advocacy and volunteerism.
BCUW is also planning a Centennial Gala to be held at the Lambeau Field Atrium on Saturday, November 8. They keep the community updated through social media and host a podcast, "Mission Possible with Robyn Davis," broadcast monthly on The Avenue 91.1.
