Research underscores the benefits for older men in establishing a primary care provider (PCP), particularly those aged between 45 and 64. It has been reported that individuals in this demographic with a PCP are 35 percent more likely to effectively manage chronic diseases and reduce emergency room visits by 20 percent.

"Regular provider visits can help anyone, especially older men, identify risks more quickly," stated a Family Medicine Physician with Emplify Health by Bellin. "This can provide peace of mind and save you time and money in the future. It could even save your life."

Men may often face barriers such as stigma and societal factors that deter them from seeking preventive or timely care.

Andreoli observed, "We are still seeing men coming in who have experienced symptoms for weeks, if not months. With a primary care relationship, we can help establish preventive care routines that are specific to your lifestyle and medical history."

Older men are more susceptible to conditions like heart disease, diabetes, depression, and prostate problems. A primary care provider offers the advantage of preventing and managing these health issues.

"We understand there is still a notion for men to have a 'push through the pain' mentality," Andreoli noted. "However, regularly meeting with your primary care provider can ensure you stay healthy and on top of your healthcare risks."

As men advance in age, their health priorities evolve. A PCP can guide them in maintaining their health over time. For those seeking a PCP nearby, additional resources are available online.
