The Green Bay Packers have signed guard/center Lecitus Smith and waived/injured wide receiver Sam Brown Jr., according to an announcement from General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Smith, a third-year player from Virginia Tech, returns to the Packers after previously spending time with the team during the 2024 offseason, training camp, and on the practice squad for the first six weeks of last season. After leaving Green Bay in 2024, Smith joined the New England Patriots and appeared in one game before also spending time with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round (No. 215 overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft, Smith played in 10 games as a rookie for Arizona and started two games at right guard. In 2023, he was part of the practice squads for both the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles. During his college career at Virginia Tech, Smith played in 45 games with 38 starts and earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors twice (2019-20). He will wear No. 68 for Green Bay.
