The Green Bay Packers and Network Health honored U.S. Marine Corps veteran Nick Greuel during Thursday night's game against the Washington Commanders as part of 'Operation Fan Mail.' The program, now in its 19th season, recognizes military families and veterans at each Packers home game.

Nick Greuel enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2005 and served for 20 years. His deployments included Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Japan through a unit deployment program. He was stationed in California, North Carolina, Sri Lanka, and Benin before retiring as a Master Sergeant in June.

Greuel and his wife Michelle are Wisconsin natives who have supported the Packers throughout their lives. While living overseas, they watched games through the Armed Forces Network with their children. At Thursday's game, Greuel attended with Michelle and their children Lucy and Jeff, marking the children's first visit to Lambeau Field. Michelle nominated her husband for this recognition.

"Operation Fan Mail, which debuted in 2007, is designed to honor those who are on active duty or are veterans of the military, along with their families," according to the Packers organization. "In addition to being recognized on the video boards prior to the game, selected families will receive four tickets to the game, courtesy of Network Health. The Packers and Network Health will host a family at each 2025 home game and recognize them on the field during pregame activities. A total of 220 families have been saluted during the past 18 seasons."

To participate in Operation Fan Mail next season, interested families or friends can submit an essay explaining why a particular fan should be recognized. Essays should be sent either by mail or online via packers.com/Lambeau-field/operation-fan-mail. Families eligible for recognition include those with members serving on active duty or who are veterans; eligible family members may include spouses, parents, children or siblings.
