Rep. Tony Wied, a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, posted a series of statements on September 26, 2025, addressing issues related to immigration policy and an impending government shutdown.

In his first post, Wied thanked a government official for halting a policy regarding commercial driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants: "Thank you @SecDuffy for putting a stop to this to madness. Illegal aliens have no business being in our country and they certainly have no business receiving CDL's." (September 26, 2025).

Later that day, Wied addressed Senator Tammy Baldwin and other Democratic lawmakers concerning the federal budget impasse: ".@SenatorBaldwin this is who is going to be hurt by you and your Democrat colleagues' decision to shut down the government. House Republicans passed a clean continuing resolution to keep the government open. You should pass it too." (September 26, 2025).

In another statement posted the same evening, Wied commented on Democratic strategies regarding the shutdown: "The Democrats' master plan to shutdown the government is foolproof. The only problem is the American people can see right through it." (September 26, 2025).

Tony Wied was elected to Congress in 2024 after defeating Kristin Lyerly in the general election with 57.3% of the vote compared to Lyerly's 42.6%. His recent comments reflect ongoing partisan disputes over immigration enforcement and federal spending negotiations.
