The Ashwaubenon High School performing arts students are excited to present their 2020-2021 production of the Broadway hit musical Damn Yankees!

The AHS Musical usually occurs in the fall, but this year with the pandemic the directors made the decision to push it back to the end of the school year and to move the show outdoors, in the hope that vaccinations would have been effective in slowing down the virus, and that some of the restrictions might be lifted by this time. We chose the Broadway Classic musical, Damn Yankees as our production - and what better outdoor venue to use than Ashwaubenon’s own Ed Krcmar Field at Klipstine Park!

It has been quite an undertaking to relocate a complete musical stage set, technical equipment, the pit band, and 50 plus students to perform outside on a baseball field. But in true Ashwaubenon fashion, these students have risen to the occasion, embraced the historic 1950’s era of Americana baseball, and will be putting on a fantastic and creative production for the public. Lead characters include Joe Hardy played by Evan Larson, Joe Boyd (Aidan Averbeck), Meg Boyd (Emma Doran), Applegate (Sam Calaway), Lola (Kennedy Kramer), Gloria Thorpe (Amelia Miner), Benny VanBuren (Luke Calaway). Other cast members include students Briella Benson, Isabelle Garrigan, Bennett Herold, Dejia Hudecek, Tyler Kasper, Aryelle Moder, Hanna Payne, Brynn Schintgen, Viggo Sorbo, Zach Stenson, Truman Thor, Kylie Turnbull, Christine VandenHeuvel, Anya Weiss, Olivia Weyenberg, Camilla Drumm, and Olivia Toyne.

Damn Yankees opens next weekend, May 28 & 29 at 6pm, and May 30 at 1pm, (rain date May 31) plus two more shows the following weekend on June 4 & 5 at 6pm (rain date June 6). Tickets are General Admission and cost $10 for Students/Senior Citizens and $13 for Adults, and will be sold ahead ONLINE only at https://Ashwaubenon.Ludus.com

We're making history this year with our first-ever outdoor musical performance of Damn Yankees, so step back in time with us and don't miss out on all these talented students, great music and fun at the ballpark! The performance will take place right on the baseball diamond at Klipstine Park, so attendees will need to bring their own blanket or lawn chair to watch the show.

Ashwaubenon High School is proud to be a member of the 2020-2021 Center Stage High School Musical Theater Program again this year, coordinated by the Fox Cities PAC. The Ashwaubenon performing arts students were recognized by Center Stage as an Outstanding Overall Musical Production for their 2017 musical, School of Rock, and again in 2019 for their production of Les Miserables. Center Stage also participates in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy Awards) in New York City. This national program is designed to connect promising young performers to the professional theater industry and is the culmination of over 30 regional awards programs across the country.

The Ashwaubenon musical is co-directed by Bernie Rocheleau (Drama/Tech) and Helen Marcks (Creative/Producer). The choral director is Debbie Drumm; pit band is under the direction of Marc Jimos; George Reynolds is set design/construction director.
