The Unified School District of De Pere has announced that freshman Caleb Riebe won the fall 2024 Wisconsin Business World Innovation Competition for his concept, Kwik Treats. The announcement was made in a news release on March 3, 2025.
According to the release, Caleb Riebe developed the idea for Kwik Treats in his Intro to Business class. He designed a self-serve machine that dispenses treats into cups or bags. Customers can select flavors and sizes using a touchscreen, with prices ranging from 99 cents to $2.25. To promote the product, he proposed a paw print-shaped sign visible at Kwik Trip locations. Encouraged by business teacher Todd Anderson, Riebe submitted his idea to the competition. His entry, presented in a two-minute video detailing the product’s appeal and marketing strategy, earned him a $500 award and the opportunity for Kwik Treats to be considered for production.
"I like dogs and I know a lot of other people do," said Riebe, according to the release. "Some people go on road trips with their dogs and not everywhere has a place to get treats other than a (traditional) store. It’s quick, easy and on-the-go."
The Wisconsin Business World Innovation Competition is held in partnership with Kwik Trip and invites students in grades 6-12 to develop new product ideas for Kwik Trip convenience stores. Participants can enter individually or in teams of up to three. Submissions require a creative presentation detailing the product’s target market, pricing, and marketing strategy. The top three entries receive cash prizes. The competition emphasizes innovation in business and customer satisfaction, encouraging students to think ahead in industry trends and product development.
The Unified School District of De Pere serves approximately 4,300 students from diverse backgrounds across De Pere and surrounding areas, including parts of six towns and students from neighboring districts.
