On the evening of Nov. 21, a hit-and-run attack at the 58th annual Christmas parade in Waukesha left six people dead and at least 40 more injured. Following that traumatic event, a grieving community looks for answers.
The six people killed in the attack were Jackson Spark, Jane Kulich, Tamara Durand, LeAnna Owen, Virginia Sorenson and Wilhelm Hospel. Spark, who died of his injuries Nov. 23, was eight years old.
Rep. Kristina Shelton tweeted, “Please keep Waukesha and all those injured and impacted by this horrifically tragic event in your thoughts and prayers.”
Police have a suspect in Darrell Brooks Jr., but they are still looking for a motive. Brooks Jr. is an amateur rapper with an extensive criminal history. He is a registered sex offender in the state of Nevada and has been charged with battery, domestic abuse, obstructing an officer and felony possession of a firearm in the past.
Brooks Jr. was bailed out of jail just days before the parade.
