Harley-Davidson has halted shipments of its products to Russia in response to the country's invasion of Ukraine, Fox 11 reported.
"In light of the crisis in Ukraine, Harley-Davidson has suspended its business in Russia and all shipments of its bikes to the country," a spokesperson for the Wisconsin-based company said, the station reported. "Our thoughts continue for the safety of the people of Ukraine and those impacted by the crisis."
Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been photographed several times on Harley-Davidson motorcycles, Fox 11 reported.
The United States and European Union have sanctioned Russia and Putin personally, hoping to diminish the country's capacity to continue the invasion, the station reported.
The company was founded in 1904 in Milwaukee and is still headquartered there, its website stated.
It has 369 dealerships in the European Union, its second-largest market after the United States, but only 10 in Russia, CNBC reported.
The company will probably reroute bikes that had been designated for Russia to other markets, said Chris Hodson, senior analyst and partner at Edgewater Research.
Putin joined a gathering of bikers in Ukraine in 2010, the network reported.
