A building that was once a Shopko in Clintonville will now be turned into a multi-purpose community center. The kick-off event was a free race car and vendor show during the weekend.

Businessman Jasper Drengler purchased the facility with the intention of making the change, FOX 11 News reported. Cars will be a prominent part of the facility.

"It's a way for drivers to show off the hard work that they've done all winter, these cars take hundreds and hundreds of hours to get them ready for racing," Drengler said.

Drengler also talked about the fun that could be had by children and families at the event.

"So to show them off, and if you look at them, they have sponsors on them, get their sponsors some exposure, get kids up close to the cars so they can touch them and see them, get them out of the cold, and have an enjoyable weekend," Drengler said.

The name for the event last week was the "Fire and Iron Gathering." Another purpose of the event was to provide exposures for the groups that were sponsoring the cars for the event. The gathering ran from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days of the weekend.
