Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich is celebrating Judge Ralph Ramirez’s move to dismiss a string of lawsuits related to the 2020 presidential election, aimed at top officials across the state, as being in the best interest of voters.
“The so-called Gableman Investigation produced nothing of value and wasted a colossal amount of time and money at the local and state levels,” Genrich tweeted Aug. 29 after the verdict against former state election inspector Michael Gableman was announced. “I welcome its end and ask all people of good faith to steer clear of similar efforts in the future that seek to spread lies about our elections and undermine our citizens’ faith in democracy.”
As part of his suit, WBay.com reports Gableman named Genrich, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway, Wisconsin Elections Commission members and the cities of Racine and Milwaukee as defendants.
Filing suit in Waukesha County Court, Gableman sought to have the mayors jailed after he was fired from the position he was installed in, giving him the power to investigate the 2020 election by state GOP Assembly Speaker Robin Vos.
Vos, who hired the former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice, also quickly moved to withdraw all the subpoenas issued to mayors and other officials across the state as part of his investigation.
“It is a victory for all Wisconsinites who are committed to preserving, protecting and deepening our state’s democracy and our nation’s constitutional republic,” Genrich told WBay.com.
