Gov. Tony Evers (D-WI) is hoping the holiday season proves to be a shining moment for the state’s small businesses.
“Our small businesses are the hearts of our Main Streets and some of the best places to find one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your list,” Evers recently posted on Twitter. “This holiday season, remember to Shop Small WI!”
Evers is committed to doing all he can to make that task easy for residents across the state. For the second straight year, WKOW.com reported that his administration has declared the entire month of December “Shop Small Wisconsin” month in hopes that the distinction will go a long way toward enticing more residents to make local purchases.
With “two-thirds of every dollar spent at a small business staying in the community,” Evers adds that shopping small goes even further by supporting local jobs and benefiting the local economy.
“Shopping small supports your neighbors, and that’s what being a Wisconsinite is all about," First Lady Kathy Evers added in a video message, where she further explained local businesses are also more likely to carry out all of their operations -- including hiring, purchasing supplies and giving back to the community -- in the neighborhood where they are located.
One of the ways you can easily find local products is by looking for the "Something Special from Wisconsin" logo.
