The City of Green Bay's Department of Public Works is set to commence its fall curbside collection of loose leaves and garden waste on Monday, October 14, 2024. Residents are instructed to place their yard waste at the curb in separate piles—leaves and grass together, brush and branches together—and avoid mixing them. Bagged materials will not be collected.

The deadline for placing yard waste items at the curb for final collection is November 27, 2024. Any yard waste placed after this date will not be picked up by the city. After the fall collection period ends, residents must dispose of their own yard waste or face a fee for collection.

It is important to note that placing yard waste directly on the road violates city ordinances and could result in fees or fines. Public Works staff will monitor compliance as they have in previous years.

Residents are reminded that raking leaves into the street can increase stormwater pollution, cause flooding by blocking drainage structures, pose dangers to children, and violate the city's stormwater permit obligations.

Yard waste should not be piled next to trees, poles, mailboxes, or other obstructions as it may slow down collection crews and damage equipment or property.

The City of Green Bay provides Yard Waste Drop-Off Centers open daily from April 1 until Thanksgiving Day from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., switching to weekends only from Thanksgiving Day through March 31 with hours from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. These centers are located at East Shore Drive and Hurlbut Street.

Contractor-generated yard debris is not accepted at these sites or for curbside collection by the city.

For more information, residents can contact the Department of Public Works – Operations Division at (920) 448-3535 or visit www.greenbaywi.gov/publicworks.
