The Green Bay Packers, in collaboration with Network Health, honored U.S. Army veteran Steve Froeschle during their game against the Minnesota Vikings as part of 'Operation Fan Mail.' This program is now in its 18th season and aims to recognize military families and veterans at each Packers home game.

Froeschle's military service spanned from 1966 to 1969. In 1967, he was deployed for a year in Vietnam with A Company 3/22 Infantry, 25th Infantry Division. During his time at Dau Tieng Base Camp, he earned several distinctions including the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Bronze Star Medal. He achieved the rank of Sergeant E5 while serving there. After returning from Vietnam, Froeschle continued his service at Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos) in Killeen, Texas, where he reached the rank of Staff Sergeant E6.

Originally from Wilson, Wisconsin, Froeschle has been a lifelong fan of the Packers. His enthusiasm for the team grew when his oldest son was born and he has since shared this passion with his children and grandchildren despite them living across various parts of the country. Currently residing in Wilson with his wife Gay, Froeschle attended Sunday's game alongside family members Shawn, Chad, Alison, Owen and Reese as well as family friend Christine.

His granddaughter Reese nominated him for this recognition following an inspiring school trip to Washington D.C., where she visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

'Operation Fan Mail,' initiated in 2007 by the Packers and Network Health honors active duty members or veterans along with their families by providing them four tickets to a home game. The program has saluted a total of 209 families over its previous seasons.

To participate in this initiative, interested parties are encouraged to submit essays detailing why a specific fan should be recognized this season. Submissions can be made either via mail or online through specified channels on packers.com/Lambeau-field/operation-fan-mail.
