BAE Systems Inc. Jacksonville Ship Repair (BAEJSR) has received the 2025 COPRI – Coasts, Oceans, Ports, and Rivers Institute Project Excellence Award. The recognition highlights their Shiplift Dry-Docking Complex, a significant development in ship docking systems globally and the largest in Florida.

The Shiplift Dry-Docking Complex is designed to handle vessels of up to 600 feet in length, 100 feet in beam, and displacing up to 10,000 tons. The project required a modern approach involving facility planning, technical design solutions, coordination among various agencies, and construction management. Foth, the design and construction team, managed challenges like site conditions, dredging, and complex structural elements.

The expansion is set to triple dry-docking maintenance space, enhancing operational efficiency and decreasing environmental impacts with improved waste containment and pollution control. The upgraded layout will support multiple vessels simultaneously, optimizing resources and productivity.

The complex includes a 492 ft by 110 ft shiplift platform with lifting piers and a transfer bridge. Operational systems such as a river-water pump station for fire suppression and industrial stormwater treatment highlight a commitment to technological advancement in ship maintenance.

Collaboration with BAE Systems Inc. aims to bolster industrial capacity crucial for national security and the maritime sector's growth. The project underscores a significant achievement and opportunity for stakeholders.
