Packers sign Isaiah Simmons; linebacker joins team after stints with Cardinals and Giants

The Green Bay Packers have officially signed linebacker Isaiah Simmons, as announced by General Manager Brian Gutekunst. The signing brings the sixth-year player from Clemson to the Packers' roster.

Isaiah Simmons, standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 238 pounds, was initially drafted in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, being the eighth overall pick. Throughout his career, Simmons has played 84 regular-season games with 42 starts. His previous teams include the Arizona Cardinals from 2020 to 2022 and the New York Giants from 2023 to 2024. Additionally, he participated in one playoff game with Arizona.

Simmons's career statistics include 308 tackles (211 solo), along with contributions such as 21 passes defensed, 15 tackles for a loss, and eight forced fumbles. He has also achieved eight and a half sacks and five interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns covering distances of 56 and 54 yards respectively. His special teams performance includes a blocked field goal, alongside other contributions like tackles and forced fumbles.

In recognition of his early impact in the league, Simmons earned All-Rookie honors from the Pro Football Writers of America in his debut season in 2020. For his new role with the Packers, Simmons will don jersey number 28.
