Rep. Tony Wied (WI-08) has criticized the administration of Governor Evers after the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) proposed a significant fee increase for farmers, livestock dealers, truckers, and auction house owners.

“The idea that Governor Evers’ Administration would stick farmers with a 1,700% fee increase is downright unconscionable,” said Rep. Tony Wied. “At a time when Republicans are working to revitalize American agriculture and lower costs for our farmers, leave it to Governor Evers and the Democrats to try to squeeze them for every penny they can. Wisconsin farmers, livestock dealers, truckers, and auction house owners work hard every day to feed our country, and they deserve our support, not to be wrung out for cash. This is a slap in the face to every Wisconsin farmer by the Evers Administration and I am calling on them to reverse this proposed fee increase immediately.”

Wied was elected as U.S. Representative for Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District in 2024 after defeating Kristin Lyerly in the general election with 57.3% of the vote compared to Lyerly's 42.6%.
