Green Bay's District 6 recently saw the assumption of office by Mr. Joey Prestley, following a close election and recount process. Celestine Jeffreys, the Clerk, confirmed that on April 22, at 3:15 pm, she issued a certificate of election and oath of office to Mr. Prestley.

According to Jeffreys, Mr. Prestley secured victory by a slim margin of 16 votes, with the recount uncovering a previously untabulated write-in vote. The recount was initiated by Mr. Campbell, who contested the results after losing by 15 votes. Jeffreys noted that the petitioner is responsible for covering the recount expenses, amounting to $6,624.25.

Despite objections raised during the recount process, the Board of Canvass ultimately verified the integrity of various election documents, affirming the validity of the results. Mr. Prestley is now set to fulfill his duties as the elected representative of District 6, having been appointed to key committees such as the Parks/Improvement and Services Committee, the Sustainability Commission, and the Equal Rights Commissions.

Mr. Prestley is scheduled to be formally sworn in during the upcoming council meeting on May 7, 2024, at 6 pm.
