CITY OF DE PERE: De Pere council moves mask mandate forward

Facemask

City of De Pere issued the following announcement on July 29

At a special meeting last night, the City of De Pere Common Council voted 5-3 in favor of implementing a city-wide face covering ordinance for public spaces.

The Common Council must approve the proposed ordinance at its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 4 before it goes into effect. It would then become an official city-wide mandate upon publication.

The ordinance applies to anyone who is at least 5 years old.

Exceptions apply to individuals:

• With prohibitive disabilities or medical conditions

• Who are exercising at gyms

• Who are attending a place of worship

• Who are outdoors

The resolution establishing penalties for violations of the ordinance will be considered at the Common Council meeting on Aug. 4.

A complete overview of the proposed ordinance discussed at the July 28 special meeting is available for public review at www.deperewi.gov, under the “Government” tab (click the “Meetings & Agendas” option).
