Journalists from The Post-Crescent and Green Bay Press Gazette recently launched a series to bring awareness to the housing struggle affecting families across northeast Wisconsin.

Natalie Brophey, who previously was a breaking and trending news reporter for The Post-Crescent, is among those involved with the news project.

“Excited to announce I have moved into a new role as a regional business reporter at The @PostCrescent and @USATODAY-Wisconsin,” Brophey wrote in a July 8 Twitter post. “As my first project in this new role, I teamed up with @GBstreetwise and @nusaiblah to tackle affordable housing issues in NE WI.”

The Green Bay Press Gazette states that about 1 in 3 families or residents in the northeastern region of Wisconsin is struggling to afford basic needs including food, health care and housing.

The Unaffordable: No Place to Call Home series features a collection of testimonies and stories from families impacted by the shortage of affordable housing.

One of the stories included in the series is about how one mother found herself homeless and searching for a place to live for three years before she could afford an apartment for her and her daughter.
